JOHN DAVID HUGHES FAMILY BACKGROUND
John Hughes' ancestors were renowned for being civic minded and always engaged in the life of the Australian community. They attended private schools and were well educated in their day and age and were benefactors to many persons.
His great grandfather on his mother's side was Lord Mayor of Launceston in Tasmania, and built many of the public buildings in that city, in Melbourne and in South Africa. His son (the father of John Hughes' mother) had six children.
John Hughes' grandfather on his father's side was Mayor of Highett in Victoria and won the King's Rifle Award near the turn of the century. His factory built the bodywork of many early Australian motor cars.
His grandmother on his mother's side was civic minded and was Life Member of Prince Henry's Hospital Committee in Melbourne, Victoria. Most of his family were builders, master cabinet makers and engineers.
Two uncles served in the Australian Army; one in World War 1 and the other in World War 2.
John David Hughes is a fourth generation Australian. John has three daughters; Jocelyn Hughes B.Bus.(Marketing), Rani Hughes, Celeste Hughes.

Committee Member and later Chairman of the Boronia Teacher Education Centre. The Centre was funded by the Education Department of Victoria.
In this role, he devised human resource development methods and means which would the cultural changes needed for Primary, Secondary & technical School teachers to operate in an information society.

His studies in philology means he can render key Pali and Sanskrit canonical words and phrases into comprehensible English, that can be understood in the context of a multicultural Australia.
This service assists the propagation of Buddha Dharma in Australia and overseas.
John Hughes in this lifetime was able to recollect the Buddha's Teaching by himself because of past causes in former times. John is a Buddhist Meditation Master and has guided many persons to realise each for himself or herself the true nature of Buddha's Teaching.
John lives as a layman in this life, but holds Bodhisattva Vows.
