John D. Hughes undertook the Museum project to order the output of his 40 years of collecting specimens and artifacts as a hobby. On display are thousands of rare specimens. Its purpose is strictly not-for-profit as a hobby. It is a non-commercial enterprise.

The Museum is suitable for people having geological interests or for those who want to develop such interests. The purpose of the development of the Museum is to create immediate research hobby opportunities, increase learning, enrich culture, to offer benefits derived from being systematised and undertake the fostering of harmless occupations.
